Three Stars of the Night

These are our three favorites on the slate tonight, regardless of price:

• Matt Dumba – D – MIN – ($4600 DK/$4400 FD) His price has gone up, but he’s one of my favorite plays on the night. He gets a ton of minutes and is averaging at least 2 shots on goal and 2 blocked shots over the past 5 games.

• Jeff Petry – D – MON – ($4000 DK/$4000 FD) With Shea Weber out, Petry is going to find a way in a lot of my lineups as he always seems to play his best hockey with Weber out. Gets a ton of minutes and slots on the top power play unit. Doesn’t take a ton of shots, but blocks shots and always has the chance to pick up an assist.

• Alex Ovechkin – W – WAS – ($8000 DK/$8800 FD) Ovechkin is arguably the best player on the slate and hard to fade in cash games. He sees plenty of scoring chances each night, and always has the potential for a hat trick. What makes me nervous about him is what’s supposed to happen in hockey doesn’t always happen. In other words, he’s a good play if you can fit him in your lineup without taking too much risk in other spots. 

Line Stacks

It’s a small slate with Washington and Calgary as the biggest favorites (at the time of this writing) so expect them as well as Philadelphia to be highest owned. I don’t mind any of the top lines for those teams as I think they are solid plays, but don’t be afraid to get a little wild. Here are some others you should consider:
