LineStar® Hat Trick 10/25 | Thursday Bounceback
Written by LineStar Fantasy Life Coach @ZeroInDenver
Welcome back to the NHL Hat Trick.
What a disappointment. I'll admit, I was pretty hyped for last night. It was a 4 game slate, but with 4 great matchups and some heavy over-unders. There were some good games, but nothing really stuck out from a DFS perspective. Because of this, lineups with one-offs or mini-stacks did much better than lineups with full line or powerplay stacks.
But that's DFS life. Nothing works all the time, so let's move on today.
I try to be transparent about who I'm interested in on any given slate. I don't like to talk too much about what I consider the obvious. Take the top line for Boston today. Not even looking at numbers, I can tell you they're in a good spot. I'm not going to try to talk you off of them, but I don't want to spend any more
Goaltending
My three favorite goaltenders on the night:
Devan Dubnyk, MIN (vs LA) (DK: $8.3K, FD: $8.6K)
Always Dubnyk at home. 2.11 goals against average, .944 save percentage, and 6.89 GSAA. Favorite goalie tonight.
John Gibson, ANH (@DAL) (DK: $7.8K, FD: $8.8K)
Gibson has been standing on his head lately and gets a tough matchup against Dallas on the road tonight. Like I've mentioned before, he should see enough shots to make up for the 2 goals or so that get past him.
Braden Holtby, WAS (@EDM) (DK: $7.4K FD: $9.2K)
I don't like him for the price on FanDuel, but he's made it into a bunch of lineups for me so far on DraftKings. He's priced right for the matchup and again should see around 30 shots tonight.
#BiscuitInTheBasketWatchList 🚨

For those of you who aren’t familiar with hockey, “biscuit in the basket” is a term for scoring a goal. Here I’m going to give a center, wing, and defensemen for the top and value pricing tiers that I think has a good chance to score a goal. Remember - I gave some tips last week on numbers that I look for, and these players check most (if not all my boxes):
Jack Eichel: BUF- C (DK: $6.9K, FD: $7.3K)
4.2 shots a game and almost 2 high-danger shot attempts a game and a beautiful home matchup against Antti Niemi.
Johnny Gaudreau: CGY - W (DK: $7.1K, FD: $7.9K)
Gaudreau has been averaging 6.2 shot attempts a game with 2 high-danger shot attempts a game.
John Carlson: WAS - D (DK: $6.8K, FD: $6.6K)
Late night D hammer. Edmonton is giving up 3.54 goals a game and Carlson is on that nasty top powerplay unit for Washington.
Value Sticks 💲
Similar to the biscuit-in-the-basket watch list, in this section I’ll provide a center, wing, and defensemen who are priced in the value tier. If I can find someone under priced on both sites, I’ll highlight them. But in some cases, it could be site specific.
Nico Hischier: NJ– C (DK: $4.8K, FD: $5.8K)
Hischier plays on the top line and power play unit and and has been averaging over 3 high-danger shot attempts a game and a 63% CF%, so he should see plenty of scoring chances tonight.
Mikael Granlund: MIN - W (DK: $5.3K, FD: $6.3K)
Minnesota is a much better team at home and they face Campbell and the Kings tonight. Granlund has been averaging 3.2 shots a game and sits on the top powerplay unit.
Vince Dunn: STL - D (DK: $4.6K, FD: $3.7K)
Averaging 3.5 shots and 1.2 blocks a game and on the top defensive pairing and first powerplay unit.
Bottom of the Barrel
I did this last season, and I’ll do it again this season. These are the players in the bottom of the salary barrel but are in a good spot tonight.
Jean-Sebastien Dea: NJ- C (DK: $3.7K, FD: $3.3K)
Nino Niederreiter: MIN - W (DK: $3.8K, FD: $4.2K)
Jamie Oleksiak: PIT - D (DK: $3.8K, FD: $3.8K)
Line Stacks
Line stacking is a common strategy in GPP. You'll see a lot of winning lineups where players are stacked from the same forward lines or power play lines. Here are my favorite stacks tonight:
NJ: Hall-Hischier-Palmieri (DK: $19K, FD: $19.7K)
Believe it or not, I like this line as a stack more than BOS1. One of the most productive lines in fantasy terms over the past month.
CHI: DeBrincat-Toews-Kahun (DK: $16.5K, FD: $17.1K)
I didn't have a lot of interest in Chicago earlier, but this line keeps sliding into many of my early lineup builds. The Rangers have been giving up 3.29 goals a game and their defense hasn't been great either, as they've allowed 62.7 shot attempts and 12.8 high danger shot attempts per game.
CLS: Panarin-Dubois-Atkinson (DK: $17.5K, FD: $20.2K)
I'm hoping this line gets forgotten or at least overlooked on this slate. Jake Allen has been known to have some really bad games and St Louis is allowing over 3 goals a game.
Risk-It-For-The-Biscuit Stack 🍪
MIN: Zucker-Staal-Niederreiter: (DK: $14.9K, FD: $16.8K)
LA has given up more fantasy points to the opposing top line than any other team on the slate. Cheap stack against a team that is giving up 3.54 goals a game.
