LineStar® Hat Trick 10/24 | HATRIK LAINE NIGHT

HATRIK LAINE TONIGHT

Welcome back to the NHL Hat Trick.

Tonight is a short 4-game slate, but with several high-powered (I hate that term) offenses. Probably better to say that there are several teams playing that I usually look to stack on much larger slates.

Also, don't be afraid to get weird in tournaments. This is the kind of slate that is often worth stacking powerplay lines just to differentiate your lineups.

Anyway, I did a few early builds today, and these are the dudes that keep popping into my lineups:

Goaltending

My three favorite goaltenders on the night:

Marc-Andre Fleury, VGK (vs VAN) (DK: $8.4K, FD: $8.1K)

On a short slate, I don't mind eating chalk and I've already found Fleury in a lot of my early builds. I don't think he'll see a lot of shots, and Vancouver will probably find a way to bounce a couple of pucks in, but Vegas should win this one.

Andrei Vasilevskiy, TB (@COL) (DK: $7.7K, FD: $9.1K)

Risky, but Tampa is favored in this one. Vasilevskiy has a .933 save percentage on the season with a 2.2 goals against average and should see plenty of shots to hit value tonight.

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG (vs TOR) (DK: $7.4K FD: $8.2K)

Just like Vasilevskiy, this is a bit risky, but he's on home ice. He'll see plenty of shots but Winnipeg will probably need to win this one for him to make value.

#BiscuitInTheBasketWatchList 🚨

For those of you who aren’t familiar with hockey, “biscuit in the basket” is a term for scoring a goal. Here I’m going to give a center, wing, and defensemen for the top and value pricing tiers that I think has a good chance to score a goal. Remember - I gave some tips last week on numbers that I look for, and these players check most (if not all my boxes):

Vincent Trocheck: FLA- C (DK: $6.6K, FD: $6.6K)

A bit of a dark horse for tonight with options like MacKinnon, Karlsson, Scheifele, and Matthews. Lehner hasn't been that good since his first start this year and Florida has been scoring over 3 goals a game.

Jonathan Marchessault: VGK - W (DK: $7.1K, FD: $7.3K)

Leads all wingers on the slate in individual scoring chances for individual corsi for and shots on goal.

Alexander Edler: VAN- D (DK: $5.6K, FD: $5.4K)

I know a lot of people don't like to look for players from the late games, but I do. Edler is typically one of my favorites because he's so consistent at shots and blocks. When you're trying to move up the leaderboard (or just hold on), I like playing a defensemen that I can count on to pick up a few shots or blocks.

Value Sticks 💲

Similar to the biscuit-in-the-basket watch list, in this section I’ll provide a center, wing, and defensemen who are priced in the value tier. If I can find someone under priced on both sites, I’ll highlight them. But in some cases, it could be site specific.

Brock Nelson: NYI– C (DK: $4.3K, FD: $5K)

I'm going to keep picking on Florida as long as they keep averaging almost 4 goals a game. Nelson is cheap enough that he should allow you to pair him with MacKinnon or Matthews in your lineups.

Anders Lee: NYI - W (DK: $5.3K, FD: $6.2K)

If you're going to play Nelson, you might as well play Lee at wing. Averaging 3.4 shots on goal a game with a 61% CF%. Should see plenty of scoring chances tonight.

Ryan McDonagh: TB - D (DK: $4.6K, FD: $4.9K)

Hedman gets a rest day today so McDonagh is worth a look tonight. Averaging 2 shots and 2.8 blocks a game.

Bottom of the Barrel

I did this last season, and I’ll do it again this season. These are the players in the bottom of the salary barrel but are in a good spot tonight.

Cody Eakin: VGK- C (DK: $3.7K, FD: $4.2K)

Frank Vatrano: FLA - W (DK: $3.7K, FD: $3K)

Shea Theodore: VGK - D (DK: $3.2K, FD: $4.2K)

Line Stacks

Line stacking is a common strategy in GPP. You'll see a lot of winning lineups where players are stacked from the same forward lines or power play lines. Here are my favorite stacks tonight:

COL: Landeskog-Mackinnon-Rantanen (DK: $21.2K, FD: $22.6K)

The most expensive stack on the slate and they've been almost matchup proof this season.

VGK: Marchessault-Karlsson-Smith (DK: $18.8K, FD: $20K)

Should be well-owned going against a depleted Vancouver team tonight. If you want exposure to Vegas but don't want to ride with the crowd, you can certainly drop down to the Pacioretty line in tournaments.

WPG: Laine-Scheifele-Wheeler (DK: $19.5K, FD: $22.5K)

This game will be on NBC Sports Network and should be a high-event game tonight. Toronto is giving up 3.33 goals a game and this is my favorite stack of the night.

Risk-It-For-The-Biscuit Stack 🍪

FLA:  Huberdeau-Trocheck-Malgin: (DK: $16.5K, FD: $16.2K)

I already mentioned my love for Trocheck tonight. This is a little risky because even though Lehner hasn't done well lately, he did have a shutout to open the season and we've seen the Islanders shut down top offenses before this season.
