Welcome to the NHL Hat Trick.

ICYMI - The NHL Season Preview & Strategy guide goes over the basics of NHL DFS and what I look for when researching players.

6 games on the slate tonight. Hopefully, you were able to get into the no-risk NHL single-entry contest on DraftKings. (It already filled). I'm going to do something different for me and make a single lineup for NHL tonight. In multi-entry I focus more on stacking but today I'm going to focus more on getting good players in good spots. If I get some stacks out of it, so be it, but I'm not going to force it. Time to go over who I like for tonight:

Tonight's Slate

Here's numbers on the teams from their past 10 games. Generally, I start my research by looking for teams in good spots. For example, teams that score goals (GF60) that are facing teams that give up goals (GA60). I also look at teams that shoot a lot (CF60) that are facing teams that give up a lot of shots (CA60).

Line Stacks

Let's get weird.

BOS1/2, CAR1/2, and PIT1 are all top stacks tonight. You don't need me to point them out, but here's some other stacks that ranked high for me to consider:

Buffalo 1 is dirt cheap and Pittsburgh is allowing 3 goals a game over their last 10.

Full PP1 correlation and also dirt cheap.

Almost min-priced on DK. Assuming Barzal is back in the lineup, I imagine most will flock to the top line for the Islanders, but let's get weird and go second line.

Biscuit Stack

Edmonton is playing well and only allowing 2 goals a game so let's take a chance with a talented line that will be completely ignored tonight.

Goaltender Rankings

How to Read This: 

I'm giving you a comparison of LineStar projections vs the average fantasy points scored over their last 10 games. I've also given you their save percentage (over 0.910 is ideal), goals allowed (lower is better), saves per game (more is better), GAA (Goals Saved Above Average), and my projected upside for each goalie.

Generally, if I'm stacking a team, I'll correlate a goalie if I can. In GPPs, I may not have the salary to make this work. In this case, I usually spend down on someone that I expect will take a lot of shots and could pick up the W.

As always - double-check that your goalie is starting before the game starts.

CASH: Semyon Varlamov - NYI (DK: $8000, FD: $8200)

GPP: Michael Houser - BUF (DK: $7000, FD: $7000)

Forwards and Defensemen Rankings

Here are my overall rankings on the top 15 skaters on the main slate. These are players that I would look to insert into my lineups as one-offs or lineup fillers if I'm stacking or double-stacking lines.

My Favorites

Again, single-entry lineup tonight. Here are the players I'm trying to squeeze in:

Auston Matthews - TOR - DK: $9000 | FD: $8900

I like Matthews tonight if you're choosing between Matthews and McDavid, but I've found that you CAN make a viable lineup with both.

Sam Reinhart - BUF - DK: $5900 | FD: $5200

Really interested in the Buffalo top line tonight. Hopefully they come through for me.

Ryan Pulock - NYI - DK: $4200 | FD: $4400

NYI has a good matchup and if you can't decide on what line to stack, Pulock is a great way to get exposure to that game and hopefully he picks up an apple or two.

Nick Suzuki - MON - DK: $4300 | FD: $5100

Another cheap player that I like tonight that should also help you fit some studs in your lineup.

Bottom of the Barrel

Here are my cheap calls for a skater to pick up a goal or assist.

Jordan Staal: CAR - C - DK: $3900 | FD: $4800

Anthony Beauvillier: NYI - W - DK: $3800 | FD: $5200

Brandon Carlo: BOS - D - DK: $2500 | FD: $3500
