ICYMI - The NHL Season Preview & Strategy guide goes over the basics of NHL DFS and what I look for when researching players.

7 games tonight. Colorado is always the obvious choice, but I like some kind-of weird teams and stacks tonight.

Tonight's Slate

Here's numbers on the teams from their past 10 games. Generally, I start my research by looking for teams in good spots. For example, teams that score goals (GF60) that are facing teams that give up goals (GA60). I also look at teams that shoot a lot (CF60) that are facing teams that give up a lot of shots (CA60).

Line Stacks

Not much to say here, best ranked stack tonight:

Florida ranks just below Colorado for me. LOVE the first line for Florida, but I wouldn't talk you off of FLA2

Strangely enough, Ottawa ranks just below Florida for me tonight so I'm going to run with it. Love the top line for Ottawa, but I think OTT2 should be considered, especially if you're trying to find a weird line to stack with COL1 or EDM1.

Biscuit Stack

Yotes face a San Jose team that is allowing 4 goals a game over their last 10, so I think they deserve solid consideration. They're cheap enough too, and they should fit nicely with a top-tier line tonight. ARI1 is my favorite, but ARI2 is viable as well.

Goaltender Rankings

How to Read This: 

I'm giving you a comparison of LineStar projections vs the average fantasy points scored over their last 10 games. I've also given you their save percentage (over 0.910 is ideal), goals allowed (lower is better), saves per game (more is better), GAA (Goals Saved Above Average), and my projected upside for each goalie.

Generally, if I'm stacking a team, I'll correlate a goalie if I can. In GPPs, I may not have the salary to make this work. In this case, I usually spend down on someone that I expect will take a lot of shots and could pick up the W.

As always - double-check that your goalie is starting before the game starts.

CASH: John Gibson - ANH (DK: $7100, FD: $6600)

GPP: Juuse Saros - NSH (DK: $7300, FD: $7600)

Forwards and Defensemen Rankings

How to Interpret C/D/W charts: In NHL DFS, I think it's most important to look at peripheral stats instead of goals which is why I put so much emphasis on shots. This includes shot attempts, high danger shot attempts (those shot attempts closest to the net with the highest probability of going into the net), shots on goal, and scoring chances. I've included projections and average fantasy points to see how each compares so you can more easily find value.

Center

My Favorite

Aleksander Barkov - FLA - DK: $8300 | FD: $8000

For me, the question is MacKinnon or Barkov? Both have the ability to break the slate, and both have similar matchups. However, I don't think that MacKinnon is an almost $1000 better play today, unless you're committed to Colorado stacks.

Wing

My Favorite:

Phil Kessel - ARI - DK: $4200 | FD: $5700

I like the Yotes tonight and think they're in a good spot which is why I think Kessel makes for a great one-off in your lineups tonight.

Defensemen

My Favorite

Jamie Oleksiak - DAL - DK: $3300 | FD: $3700

I think tonight is a great night to dip at defense and roster Oleksiak. He takes shots and blocks shots and is cheap. I don't love the matchup, but he could easily make value with a few shots and blocks tonight.

Bottom of the Barrel

Here are my cheap calls for a skater to pick up a goal or assist.

Sam Bennett: FLA - C - DK: $3800 | FD: $3700

Luke Kunin: NSH - W - DK: $3500 | FD: $3900

Jaccob Slavin: CAR - D - DK: $3800 | FD: $3800
