ICYMI - The NHL Season Preview & Strategy guide goes over the basics of NHL DFS and what I look for when researching players.

5-games tonight as we close out the week. I think there are some obvious mismatches tonight that we'll want to take advantage of, but as always, we'll want to target some teams and players whose season ends in a few weeks.

Tonight's Slate

Here's numbers on the teams from their past 10 games. Generally, I start my research by looking for teams in good spots. For example, teams that score goals (GF60) that are facing teams that give up goals (GA60). I also look at teams that shoot a lot (CF60) that are facing teams that give up a lot of shots (CA60).

Line Stacks

Going to go out on a limb and put down CGY1 as my favorite stack tonight. They rank highest for me, and should go unowned tonight with Boston and NYR on the slate.

So if you're wondering which team to stack between Boston and the Rangers, I'm going to propose NYR1. I think NYR2 is also in a great spot, but they're a little more expensive.

Biscuit Stack

Going to CHI1 for the biscuit tonight. Nashville has been limiting opponents to 2.4 goals a game over their last 10, but Kane has had good history against the Preds and is worthy of a shot tonight.

Goaltender Rankings

How to Read This: 

I'm giving you a comparison of LineStar projections vs the average fantasy points scored over their last 10 games. I've also given you their save percentage (over 0.910 is ideal), goals allowed (lower is better), saves per game (more is better), GAA (Goals Saved Above Average), and my projected upside for each goalie.

Generally, if I'm stacking a team, I'll correlate a goalie if I can. In GPPs, I may not have the salary to make this work. In this case, I usually spend down on someone that I expect will take a lot of shots and could pick up the W.

As always - double-check that your goalie is starting before the game starts.

CASH: Alexandar Georgiev - NYR (DK: $8200, FD: $7900)

GPP: Malcolm Subban - CHI (DK: $7500, FD: $7100)

Forwards and Defensemen Rankings

How to Interpret C/D/W charts: In NHL DFS, I think it's most important to look at peripheral stats instead of goals which is why I put so much emphasis on shots. This includes shot attempts, high danger shot attempts (those shot attempts closest to the net with the highest probability of going into the net), shots on goal, and scoring chances. I've included projections and average fantasy points to see how each compares so you can more easily find value.

Center

My Favorite

Elias Lindholm - CGY - DK: $6100 | FD: $6700

I think a lot of exposure will go to the early games on the slate, but I think the Flames are in a good spot against a Montreal team that is allowing 3.2 goals a game.

Wing

My Favorite:

Taylor Hall - BOS - DK: $5000 | FD: $6400

It's been a long time since he's broken a slate, but Hall definitely has the talent to do so. He's so cheap for tonight and has a great matchup that you almost have to try to squeeze him into your lineup.

Defensemen

My Favorite

Mark Giordano - CGY - DK: $6300 | FD: $5900

Doubling-down on my Calgary call and proposing a 2-man Flames stack of Lindholm and Giordano.

Bottom of the Barrel

Here are my cheap calls for a skater to pick up a goal or assist.

Dylan Cozens: BUF - C - DK: $2800 | FD: $3600

Eeli Tolvanen: NSH - W - DK: $3900 | FD: $4700

 Rasmus Dahlin: BUF - D - DK: $3800 | FD: $3800
