ICYMI - The NHL Season Preview & Strategy guide goes over the basics of NHL DFS and what I look for when researching players.

4-games on tap for NHL tonight in the main with a slightly later start time at 7:30 Eastern. Also, I'm not going to say much about Colorado tonight. They're worth playing every night. Instead let's look at a few other options to fill your lineups.

Tonight's Slate

Here's numbers on the teams from their past 10 games. Generally, I start my research by looking for teams in good spots. For example, teams that score goals (GF60) that are facing teams that give up goals (GA60). I also look at teams that shoot a lot (CF60) that are facing teams that give up a lot of shots (CA60).

Line Stacks

VGK2 is my favorite non-Colorado stack tonight. They feel underpriced to me and face a Blues team that is giving up 3.2 goals a game over their last 10.

Second favorite stack tonight is MON1, but I think MON2 is also in play. I like that I can fit MON2 with COL1 without stretching too far or throwing too many punts in the lineup.

Biscuit Stacks

Going to give you two biscuit stacks tonight. For me, it starts with LAK1. They're a fully correlated line and facing an Arizona team that's giving up 3 goals a game over their last 10.

Second biscuit stack is STL1. VGK is a tough team, but there's still a lot of randomness in hockey and Vegas allows almost a dozen high-danger shot attempts a game.

Goaltender Rankings

How to Read This: 

I'm giving you a comparison of LineStar projections vs the average fantasy points scored over their last 10 games. I've also given you their save percentage (over 0.910 is ideal), goals allowed (lower is better), saves per game (more is better), GAA (Goals Saved Above Average), and my projected upside for each goalie.

Generally, if I'm stacking a team, I'll correlate a goalie if I can. In GPPs, I may not have the salary to make this work. In this case, I usually spend down on someone that I expect will take a lot of shots and could pick up the W.

As always - double-check that your goalie is starting before the game starts.

CASH: Philipp Grubauer - COL (DK: $8400, FD: $8700)

GPP: Jake Allen - MON (DK: $7500, FD: $7300)

Forwards and Defensemen Rankings

How to Interpret C/D/W charts: In NHL DFS, I think it's most important to look at peripheral stats instead of goals which is why I put so much emphasis on shots. This includes shot attempts, high danger shot attempts (those shot attempts closest to the net with the highest probability of going into the net), shots on goal, and scoring chances. I've included projections and average fantasy points to see how each compares so you can more easily find value.

Center

My Favorite

William Karlsson - VGK (DK: $4900, FD: $5400)

Karlsson seems almost too cheap for his spot tonight. He's my one-off if you're not full stacking VGK2.

Wing

My Favorite:

Kevin Fiala - MIN (DK: $5200, FD: $5100)

As an Avs fan, I've had my heart broken by the Wild in the past, so I try to never overlook the Wild when they match up. For me, Fiala ranks the highest tonight. I don't have a lot of love for the Wild in stacks, but I love Fiala as a one-off.

Defensemen

My Favorite

Jakob Chychrun - ARI (DK: $5900, FD: $4600)

Highest ranked. LETSSSGOOOO!

Bottom of the Barrel

Here are my cheap calls for a skater to pick up a goal or assist.

 Nick Schmaltz: ARI - C (DK: $ 4000, FD: $ 3900)

Andre Burakovsky: COL - W (DK: $3900, FD: $4100)

Sean Walker: LAK (DK: $3600, FD: $3500)
