Welcome to the NHL Hat Trick.

ICYMI - The NHL Season Preview & Strategy guide goes over the basics of NHL DFS and what I look for when researching players.

Another solid 7-game slate on tap tonight. I think there's some obvious spots worth targetting and a few under-the-radar options to consider as well.

LETSSSSSSSSSSGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight's Slate

Here's numbers on the teams from their past 10 games. Generally, I start my research by looking for teams in good spots. For example, teams that score goals (GF60) that are facing teams that give up goals (GA60). I also look at teams that shoot a lot (CF60) that are facing teams that give up a lot of shots (CA60).

Based on this, my favorite teams to target on this slate are Carolina, Tampa, Dallas, Edmonton, and Rangers

Line Stacks

Carolina is one of my top-ranked teams to target tonight. For me, I'm going to go heavy on the top line for Carolina. I have some interest in the second line. If you want to get wild and go the third line, I wouldn't talk you out of it, but I won't be going there.

I think Tampa is my favorite stack for tonight. Not the best matchup, but Columbus allows a lot of shots and second-most scoring chances on the slate. All 3 lines for Tampa is in play for me, but TB2 is my favorite.

Dallas plays the awful Predators tonight and I think are worthy of your consideration as a stack tonight. I prefer DAL1 but will go DAL2 as well.

Repeat from last night: Edmonton has Draisaitl and McDavid together again, so I love the top line for Edmonton tonight. Still, I wouldn't rule out a wild EDM2 stack if you're trying to squeeze exposure to Edmonton with a high-salary stack.

Risk It For The Biscuit

The Rangers face a Washington team that is allowing only 2.3 goals a game over their last 10, but the Rangers have scored 3.9 goals a game over that same span. I think they're worth considering tonight. My preference is NYR2 for the price, but I'll have shares of both.

Goaltender Rankings

How to Read This:

I'm giving you a comparison of LineStar projections vs the average fantasy points scored over their last 10 games. I've also given you their save percentage (over 0.910 is ideal), goals allowed (lower is better), saves per game (more is better), GAA (Goals Saved Above Average), and my projected upside for each goalie.

Generally, if I'm stacking a team, I'll correlate a goalie if I can. In GPPs, I may not have the salary to make this work. In this case, I usually spend down on someone that I expect will take a lot of shots and could pick up the W.

As always - double-check that your goalie is starting before the game starts.

My Favorites:

CASH: Mikko Koskinen - EDM (DK: $7600, FD: $7700)

GPP: Igor Shesterkin - NYR (DK: $7700, FD: $7400)

Forwards and Defensemen Rankings

How to Interpret C/D/W charts: In NHL DFS, I think it's most important to look at peripheral stats instead of goals which is why I put so much emphasis on shots. This includes shot attempts, high danger shot attempts (those shot attempts closest to the net with the highest probability of going into the net), shots on goal, and scoring chances. I've included projections and average fantasy points to see how each compares so you can more easily find value.

Center

My Favorite

Roope Hintz - DAL (DK: $5300, FD: $5600)

The dude is pretty phenomenal when healthy. He's pretty cheap relative to his peripherals.

Wing

My Favorite:

Martin Necas - CAR (DK: $4700, FD: $5200)

I hate chasing someone like Necas, but I like him on the top line and he's cheap enough that he's worthy of a one-off spot in your lineup.

Defensemen

My Favorite

Seth Jones - CLS (DK: $5500, FD: $5400)

My top-ranked defenseman for tonight. I still never know where to go for Columbus stacks, but I feel he needs to factor in or is a good one-off for exposure to Columbus.

Bottom of the Barrel

Here are my cheap calls for a skater to pick up a goal or assist.

Pius Suter: CHI - C (DK: $ 4200, FD: $ 4300)

Yegor Sharangovich: NJ - W (DK: $3600, FD: $3900)

Joel Edmundson: MON (DK: $2700, FD: $3600)
